The Chattery is a Chattanooga-based nonprofit run that focuses on fun, affordable, and accessible educational classes for adults on a variety of topics and skills. Donations help us keep our classes low cost, while still being able to pay our teachers a fair rate.
We have three ways to give:
Tax-Deductible Donation
That's right, we're a nonprofit! A financial donation to The Chattery is tax deductible and it helps us to continue our operations (and offer classes to even more people!).

Join The Chattery to celebrate 12 years of making learning fun at our Learn. Connect. Grow. Dinner!
On Thursday, March 5th (our 12th anniversary), we'll host a culinary experience at Calliope located in the heart of downtown Chattanooga. Calliope is a modern Levantine restaurant that was recently named one of the New York Times' top 50 restaurants to eat in the U.S.!
In addition to hearing from The Chattery's founders, the evening will feature a three-course meal, a cocktail or mocktail with dinner and lively conversation.
This year's dinner will benefit The Chattery's Arts for Older Adults program, which offers free and low-cost art workshops for lifelong learners 60 and over. In 2025, our Arts for Older Adults program served over 160 lifelong learners. These classes have proven to reduce loneliness, improve memory and cognitive abilities and promote social connection within older adults.
By purchasing a dinner ticket, you are supporting Arts for Older Adults and ensuring its impact for years to come.
Accessibility note: The event space is located on the second floor and is only accessible by stairs.
Please note: If you'd like to pay for dinner in two installments, please email us ([email protected]). There are no refunds for this event. Please note: For tax purposes, the dinner will be deducted from the donation amount.

Teach With Us
Are you an expert on a certain subject? Or maybe you’re well-versed in a cool craft. No matter what, we’d love to hear from you. We’re always looking for experts and gurus who want to share their knowledge with our community. Prior teaching experience isn’t required, but let us know if you’ve taught before! Read about teaching with The Chattery here, and then fill out the form below and tell us a little about yourself and your class idea.
Please note: We receive a lot of requests each month from our awesome community members (thank you!) and we do our best to answer each request and suggestion in a timely manner. Please allow up to 2 weeks for a reply. Repeated requests further delay the process. While you’re here, check out our class listing to see if your class idea is already on the calendar.
Also, please note that we do not work with representatives of MLMs (DoTerra, Young Living, etc.) for classes.
Volunteer as a Teacher’s Assistant
What is the Teacher’s Assistant Program (TAP)?
Think docent—but for the classroom, rather than a museum. A docent is a volunteer-for-trade position at The Chattery. Teacher Assistants for The Chattery are enthusiastic about learning, and have a welcoming and generous attitude toward all the students and teachers that attend our classes.

Welcome and check-in students
Register any last-minute ticket sales
Clean up and lock down after the class
Coordinate with the Teacher for any special support needed
When you’ve monitored seven classes, you get a free ticket to a Chattery class of your choosing. Join our team as a Teacher Assistant!

Rent Our Space
We have moved back into 1800 Rossville Avenue, but our space will not be available for rent until Spring 2026. Thank you!

The Fireplace is a cozy and flexible coworking space at The Chattery designed with lifelong learners in mind.
After a devastating fire that destroyed our classroom in 2024, customers who were new to The Chattery’s community affectionately began referring to it as “the fire place” – and the name stuck!
At The Fireplace, members can cowork, cultivate connections and collaborate with other like-minded creatives, artists and nonprofit leaders. Members also have access to The Chattery’s class & event calendar, furthering their mission to foster an active and engaging community of lifelong learners.
