Art by James McKissic

You don't have to be a millionaire to build a nice art collection. Come out and learn ten tips for building an art collection on a budget. This class will cover photography, works on paper, and canvas as well as how to focus your collection to mirror your personal interests and passions.

About the teacher:

James McKissic is a local artist, arts advocate, and passionate collector of African American art. He serves as the Director of the City of Chattanooga Office of Multicultural Affairs. James studied art at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Cleveland State Community College, and the Creative Arts Workshop of New Haven Connecticut. His work is in many private collections and he exhibits his paintings widely. Most recently he was part of an exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts (MOCADA) in Brooklyn, NY and, last year, one of his paintings was exhibited and sold at Swann Auction House as part of the personal Art Collection of Maya Angelou.
