Teacher Spotlight: Amy Winchester

Our growing class list would be quite difficult to pull off without the awesome instructors - and businesses - we've been so honored to meet.  We'd like to give you the same opportunity to get to know our Chattery teachers a bit better.

Meet Amy Winchester, who will be teaching us all about choosing the right color for our homes on July 13 at Chattanooga WorkSpace.

Amy Winchester is owner of AW Interiors and a Porter Paint Color Consultant. She is a Certified Colour Specialist from the International Colour Society and was previously the district director of the Chattanooga American Society of Interior Designers. She is currently a mentor to UTC design students and is a member of the UTC Interior Design Advisory Board. Amy has a B.S. in Human Ecology and Interior Design from University of Tennessee Chattanooga.

How did you get started in your profession?

Design picked me, I remember colors, patterns and textures from the age of 3. I designed children's clothing for years, taught quilt classes, designed and taught window treatment classes. When my third son left for college I thought it was now or never so I went back to college for my degree in Interior Design.

Why do you love Chattanooga?

The weather and all the wonderful outdoor activities makes Chattanooga a great place to live. And the fact all three of my sons and their family live here.

What's one topic you'd like to learn through The Chattery?

Can't pick one class, The Chattery offers so many interesting classes, I will be attending for a long time!

What's something someone would be surprised to learn about you?

That I didn't graduate from college until I was 50!
