Join local dietitian Courtney Phifer, MS, RD, LDN, owner of Nourish Nutrition Counseling, as she takes us through the practice of mindful eating. Mindful eating is eating with awareness and using your senses to fully experience the food. With practice, it can help us avoid overeating and help us learn our natural body cues. The class will include an intro to mindfulness, eating in the moment, and hunger/satiety.
About the teacher:
Courtney is a registered dietitian who provides individual nutrition counseling and education to adults and adolescents for a variety of issues, including eating disorders, disordered eating patterns, emotional eating, medical diagnoses, weight management, meal planning, etc. Courtney helps clients develop a healthy relationship with food by practicing a non-diet approach of balance and moderation, teaching permission vs. restriction. She prides herself on being a nutrition myth-buster! She has worked in behavioral health for over eight years, specializing in eating disorders and addictions. She uses a small-step goal-oriented client-driven approach incorporating body positive, health at every size (HAES), mindfulness, connection to body cues practices and more.
