Overwhelmed by your CSA box? Enjoying a bumper crop in your garden? We're here to help give you new ideas to use the summer bounty! During this demo class, we'll discuss storage, preservation methods, and cooking techniques of many summer vegetables, including summer squash and zucchini, cucumbers, tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, and basil. You'll leave with a recipe pack with some of our favorite things to eat in the summertime and we'll talk about quick pickling, freezing, and other ways to not let those delicious vegetables go to waste. Come hungry, there will be plenty to sample!
About the teacher:
Caroline Thompson is a cook at The Farmer's Daughter. She studied religion and social justice at Agnes Scott College and later culinary arts at New England Culinary Institute. Both of those experiences have informed her passion -- empowering others to feed themselves and their families healthy, nutritious meals on a budget. She has taught many cooking classes for adults, kids and families over the last four years and is always planning more! She is also an obsessive gardener, knitter and dog-mama.
