Together, we'll learn the basics of how to use a really fun vintage Polaroid Land Camera. After going out and taking pictures with the camera around Coolidge Park, we’ll use those pictures to learn one of the many creative techniques that can be done with Polaroid photos. The technique we will learn in this workshop is called an “emulsion lift,” which is physically removing the positive image from its backing and putting it onto another surface. We'll do this with all of your images to make one larger, collage-style photo.
Diana Edwards is the owner of Studio Space Junk, an eclectic shop on Frazier Avenue full of all things old school - polaroid cameras, records, and more. Originally from New Orleans, with her roots in Las Vegas, Diana moved to Huntsville when she was 28 for a change of pace and focused her energy on getting into the darkroom. She moved to Chattanooga after meeting the love of her life, Joe, who encouraged her dream to have a studio space to explore her creative interests and share her love of culture and 20th century technology. She now shares the studio space with Joe, along with a beautiful son.
