Teacher Spotlight: Michelle Hatfield

Our growing class list would be quite difficult to pull off without the awesome instructors we've been so honored to meet.  We'd like to give you the same opportunity to get to know our Chattery teachers a bit better.

So, here are four questions to help get to know our Halloween Makeup 101 instructor MIchelle Hatfield of Uniquely Unhinged.

How did you get started in the world of makeup?

I was always fascinated with makeup. When I was in High School , I used to do makeovers on all my friends. I would gather magazines & try the different looks. I went to Cosmetology School to learn how to do Hair & Esthetics & Nails. This way I could do more than just someone's makeup in the future. I found out that I needed to continue my education. So, I went to a makeup school in Orlando, Florida. There I learned Special Effects Makeup. By having both degrees, I could do makeup for just about anything. I wanted to work on movie sets mainly or TV. Eventually over the years, I have accomplished both of those along with Theatre & Photography. My more recent goal was to make it all official as a business. I just got a business license for Uniquely Unhinged. It covers makeup as well as the things I have made.

Why do you love Chattanooga?

It is a very scenic city. Great place to raise a family. I was born here & have lived here my whole life. It is home. No other place can be called that for me. Plus now, since my family & I are huge Walking Dead fans, it is close to where they film. We have visited that area several times. Made friends with some of the locals & with some of the ones that are the Walkers.

What's one topic you'd like to learn through The Chattery?

I have not been familiar with The Chattery until recently . I would like to know more about what all is involved for the community.

What's something someone would be surprised to learn about you?

Besides loving to do Makeup. I love the Paranormal. My husband & I have had a Paranormal Team for several years. We used to do tours at Hales Bar Marina. We even arranged for Ghost Adventures to come & film there as well as Ghost Hunters. We no longer do tours there. We just occasionally take calls from people with issues that need our help. Recently I was asked by the Ghost Adventures crew to film a segment for a new show they have been doing . It is called Ghost Adventures Aftershock. The show is revisiting places they have investigated. They want to see how it has affected the people involved since they were there. So, myself & a fellow investigator from another team were asked to do the show. They flew us to Vegas & filmed the episode . It still is due to air.
