Mia Hansford studied sculpture at Parsons School of Design and English Literature at Eastern Kentucky University. In New York, Mia was a visual artist and a poet, exhibiting work and reading at such venues as: David Zwirner Gallery, Herron Test Site, The Knitting Factory, Movement Research, The Public Theater, The Whitney and The Nuyorican Poets Café. She worked at P.S. 122, at A Gathering of the Tribes, and with performers such as Dancenoise and Carolee Schneeman. She participated in A Chorus of Poets under the direction of composer Lawrence Butch Morris. She has visual work at Wheaton College, and in private collections. Mia moved to Chattanooga to teach English and creative writing and raise my son. She is a writer, visual artist and teacher, and most recently has added a beginning practice as a massage therapist to her life path, which continues to inform and deepen her arts practice.
